Zen flip clock for pc4/5/2023 ![]() Both of these processors are also built on chiplets, which makes scaling the design up or down relatively easy. Both processors are built on a TSMC 5nm manufacturing process, and they both utilize AMD’s Zen 4 architecture. The Ryzen 7 7700X features many similarities to AMD’s flagship Ryzen 9 7950X. That said, it's hard to ignore Intel's Core i7-12700K at around the same price, and the just-announced, forthcoming Core i7-13700K, with its support for 24 threads for just $10 more. If you're looking for a high-performance processor that still leaves some cash in the bank to buy a proper GPU afterwards, then this might be the one for you. This processor is priced significantly lower ($399) and performs respectably close to the Ryzen 9 7950X given the large price difference. AMD’s Ryzen 7 7700X is quite a different story, though. Unless you are doing a lot of heavily threaded, compute-intensive tasks, there’s just no need to own such a beast. But it’s, to an extent, a niche chip at $699. Four "Zen 4"-based CPUs hit the street this week, and the top one, AMD’s Ryzen 9 7950X, is an incredibly powerful processor.
